A 14-week online training program for pianists who want to read better. Two tracks: Foundation, for beginner to intermediate players, and Advanced, for teachers, advanced students, and working professionals. Grounded in sight-reading research, delivered through live coaching and the Piano Marvel platform.
Directed by pianist and educator David Córdoba-Hernández, DMA, with research oversight from Dr. Ricardo Fuentes-Saavedra, MD, Performing Arts Medicine Specialist.
What's included
- Live personalized coaching — an initial interview and assessment, a plan built around your specific gaps, follow-up sessions throughout, and a final assessment
- Three interactive workshops with guest experts, at the beginning, middle, and end of the program

- Research handouts — the science of sight-reading, translated into practical terms, sent after each workshop
- Practice study sheets — structured guides so you know exactly what to do in each session at the piano
- Technical onboarding — a setup session to configure your instrument, devices, and learning station

Dates: August 31 – December 6, 2026
Format: Fully online — live group and individual sessions
Time commitment: 30 minutes a day, 4 days a week minimun of attentive work.
Cohort structure:
- Foundation Track — SASR up to 600: weekly group classes with individual check-ins
- Advanced Track — SASR 600 and above: biweekly coaching sessions — individual, with two group sessions during the program, plus the three workshops
Program value: $750 · Founding cohort: $500 through August 24

What we ask of you
- Equipment. An 88-key MIDI-capable piano with weighted keys and a sustain pedal; a laptop or iPad to run Piano Marvel; a second device (phone, tablet, computer, or webcam) positioned to show your hands and posture at the instrument; and a stable internet connection for live sessions.
- Commitment. This program is built for committed pianists ready to do the work. You agree to follow your personalized plan for a minimum of 30 minutes a day, 4 days a week.
- Research. Anonymized performance data may be used in ongoing sight-reading research. Participation is optional and does not affect your place in the program.
- Age. Participants must be 18 or older.
- Language. All sessions and materials are delivered in English. Individual coaching in the Advanced Track is also available in Spanish.

- Access to Equipment Requirements: To utilize the scholarship, the winner must have access to an 88-key MIDI-capable piano with weighted keys and a sustain pedal; a laptop or iPad to run Piano Marvel; a secondary device (phone, iPad, computer, or webcam) to display hands and body at the piano; and a microphone/camera of sufficient quality for proper instructor evaluation.
- Program Commitment: This program is built for committed pianists ready to do the work. If you win, you agree to adhere to your personalized plan for a minimum of 30 minutes per day, 4 days a week.
- Age & Geographic Reach: Open only to legal residents of the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada who are 18 years of age or older at the time of entry. Void where prohibited by law. Residents of Canada must successfully complete a time-limited mathematical skill-testing question to be declared a winner.
How to Earn Bonus Entries (Optional)
